Women's rights

Ever since I was in second grade I have been involved in sports and I have never had a second thought about it.  It's hard for me to believe that not that long ago girls were not given the opportunity to play sports at all because those were only activities that boys were able to participate in.  I when I was younger I played basketball, softball, and volleyball, these sports helped make me who I am today so I'm grateful for the fact that I was always given the chance to participate.  Woman's rights have come a long way because women are now able to vote, own property, hold office, have high paying jobs, etc. None of these things would have been possible if it wasn't for the perservering work of many women's rights workers.

If a feminist such as Harriet Martineau was able to observe the great accomplishments made for women in society I think she would overall be very pleased of the progress made.  However, she would still feel that there is room for improvement to bring about a more equal treatment between men and women.  Ms. Martineau would appreciate the fact that opportunities like sports teams for girls or voting rights are now a common factor in today's society.

Who am I?

Heyy!!! I'm Meghan!! My favorite color is red and I love food but I feel that majority of foods taste better frozen, especially waffles and grapes. :) At the school I'm involved in basketball, key club, yearbook, habitat for humanity, and NHS.  I strongly believe in extracurricular activities because you get to meet a variety of people.  My friends and family are my biggest influences on my life due to the fact that I'm always with one or the other.  My friends and family help me when I'm having a rough day and allow me to look at things from a different perspective.  My goals for after high school is going to college at University of Illinois but I'm also considering going to the Naval Academy in Maryland. For my profession I want to go into criminal law or veterinary medicine.  I want to eventually have kids but I also want to be a foster mom for less fortunate children.  I want to make a difference in the world no matter how small it is so that one day the world will become a better place.
